Understanding the Seeker-Sensitive Movement

Though the seeker-senstive movement in the evangelical church is not a new thing, many in the visible church still fail to see the problems with this "philosophy" of ministry.  This link at monergism.com will provide you the opportunity to do some of your own research and learn more of the aberrant practices found in the seeker-churches.

MacArthur Concerning The Seeker-Sensitive Church

Here is a timely quote by John MacArthur about the ever-growing seeker movement,

"Churching the unchurched is an absolute fallacy – it is like purposing to let the tares in. It is absolutely bizarre to want to make unsaved people feel comfortable in a church. The church is not a building – the church is a group of worshiping, redeemed, and sanctified people among whom an unbeliever should feel either miserable, convicted and drawn to Christ, or else alienated and isolated. Only if the church hides its message and ceases to be what God designed the church to be, can it make an unbeliever comfortable."

Is Your Pastor Entertaining Goats or Feeding Sheep?

Reformed Reader posted a timely quote by William Still from his excellent book The Work of the Pastor today.  Sadly, in the American evangelical church, we are living in a troubling time in which pastor's largely refuse to follow their calling from God to feed the flock the whole counsel of the Word.  Is your pastor preaching the Word of God in context?  Is he Christ-centered each week when teaching?  Does he minister the gospel each week from every passage of Scripture?  Or, does he make the worship service revolve around "those far from God?"  Like Still so aptly stated, the way to reach those outside of Christ is never by catering to their inherent depraved nature, but by preaching repentance and faith in Christ from all the Scriptures.  Moreover, pastor's whom starve God's flock from within the church walls are especially in egregious error no matter what their supposed goal of ministry is.
